Apply for our NEW OT Award

1 Mar 2017 11:56:10

Are you planning a research project or voluntary work in 2017?

New for 2017, the £1000 Cosyfeet OT Award is open to any qualified OT or student OT who is planning to undertake voluntary work, a work placement or research, either in the UK or abroad. Your application should demonstrate that your chosen project will help develop your professional knowledge and skills while benefitting others.

The winner will be expected to submit a report and photographs of their experience, and to be included in Cosyfeet publicity relating to the award.

Cosyfeet specialise in making extra roomy footwear, socks and hosiery, designed to fit people with extra wide or swollen feet. As a company we care passionately about falls prevention, and ensure that their range includes a selection of styles that provide excellent support to the foot and a secure, adjustable fit. Our goal is to help keep people independently mobile for as long as possible by providing good footwear to fit swollen and misshapen feet in comfort.

“As a company we care about our customers and share many of the same values as the OTs who treat them,” says Cosyfeet Managing Director Andrew Peirce. “We see great synergy in launching this award, to support OTs in their professional development.”

If you would like to apply for the award, please click here to complete our online application form. The closing date for applications is 21st April 2017.

This season we have added some exciting new styles and some eye-catching colours to brighten up our range.

NEW Shelley is a sweet. summery style that is ideal for patients who want the coolness of a sandal but need the protection of a shoe.

NEW Boris is a favourite with our shop staff as it's so adjustable. It fits a range of foot shapes and swelling thanks to the touch fastening straps across the instep and the buckle-adjustable back strap.

Crisis at Christmas

16 Oct 2015 11:18:23

Could you spare a few hours to help provide footcare to the homeless at Christmas?

Cosyfeet are teaming up with Crisis at Christmas in an urgent call for volunteer podiatrists in London, Newcastle and Edinburgh.

Crisis guests have greater demands on their feet than the rest of the population, and much less opportunity for foot care. The results can be painful and debilitating. Crisis are looking for qualified podiatrists to treat their guests, and podiatry students to help run the service by welcoming guests and preparing them for treatment.

The Crisis Podiatry Service provides a range of treatments and foot care advice for guests, mainly treating corns and calluses, mycotic and gryphotic nails, blistering and maceration. Helen Moakes, the volunteer organiser of the Crisis Podiatry service says, “Many volunteers return year after year. It’s a hugely fulfilling, enjoyable time and our guests are always very grateful to see us.”

London volunteers meet at the Operations Centre in Bermondsey, East London, at the start of each shift to be briefed and assigned to a team. Transport is provided to and from treatment centres. Shifts run from 8am to 3pm and 1.30 pm to 8.30pm between December 23rd and December 29th.

Volunteers are also required in Edinburgh and Newcastle on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and there are plans to expand the podiatry services into other UK cities in 2015. Registration in certain locations to volunteer have now opened with more to follow soon. For further information, contact the Crisis at Christmas Services Team by calling 0300 6361000 or emailing ccservices@crisis.org.uk.
