Know Your Numbers Week (16th-22nd September)

Despite its name, this awareness week has nothing to do with maths or counting. It’s all about encouraging us to monitor our blood pressure and know our numbers!

Do you know your numbers?

“Know Your Numbers Week” (16th -22nd September) is Blood Pressure UK's awareness campaign. It encourages people across the UK to know their blood pressure numbers and to take action to maintain a healthy measurement.

Since its launch over 10 years ago, ‘Know your Numbers Week’ has ensured that more than 1.5million people have had their blood pressure checked so that they know their blood pressure numbers in the same way as their height and weight.

The week involves hundreds of organisations signing up to provide free blood pressure tests at venues known as Pressure Stations. They’re located throughout the community at pharmacies, workplaces, GP surgeries, hospitals, health clubs, leisure centres, shopping centres and supermarkets.

High blood pressure is the underlying cause of many serious problems including heart attacks and strokes, so it’s something you cannot afford to ignore.

The Blood Pressure Association website at www.bloodpressureuk.org will let you search for your nearest Pressure Station so you can have a free blood pressure test. It also has a short quiz to help you self-assess the impact your lifestyle has on your blood pressure.
