Trouser wearing first became popular with the women of Britain back in WW2, what with rationing and going out to work in the jobs the men had left behind, many women utilised their husbands trousers (not while he was wearing them!) to make their ration tokens go further or were given overalls for their work and the love affair with the trouser started. However, they did not have the convenience of the ever popular ankle high as the perfect hosiery accompaniment.
