Grab your blankets and baskets and head for the great outdoors to celebrate National Picnic Week! Getting together with family and friends, enjoying the (hopefully) sunny weather, can be very beneficial for your well-being, add some delicious food and it's a win-win situation!

Picnic

Food safety:

- Always keep food properly chilled, especially during the hotter months. Cold, perishable food should be kept in the fridge or a cool box until it needs to be served.

- Be sure to cook your food thoroughly – especially meats such as burgers and hot dogs. Once served, dishes shouldn’t sit outside for longer than two hours.

- Always wash your hands before cooking, serving food to other people and eating food. If you’re out on a picnic, try and use an antibacterial wipe if no sink is available.

Shoes for every summer occasion

Summer is the season for socialising. As well as being the most popular time of year for weddings and christenings, it’s also a time when friends and families come together for drinks and barbeques. It’s helpful to have a variety of wide shoes at your disposal, so you can be ready for every occasion.

Heels are the obvious choice for parties and formal occasions. Look for styles that have a supportive heel so that you can feel comfortable and confident. Styles with a touch-fastening strap are helpful as you can adjust them if your feet tend to swell as the day goes on.

Hettie

Don’t worry if you’re not comfortable wearing a heel. You can still look fabulous in flats. If you want to add a bit of excitement to your outfit, why not go for an interesting pattern such as a floral or animal print.

Koryl

Add some interest with Cosyfeet’s Koryl shoe in Leopard print

If you’re looking for something more relaxed and informal, then you could try a trainer-type shoe. Lace-up styles are great if you need a bit more support in your shoe and are ideal if you’re likely to be on your feet for a while.

If you want an indoors style, for relaxing at home, a cotton-mix slipper is a good way to stay comfy and cool over the summer. Sandal styles are useful as you can adjust the straps to fit and they allow air to circulate around your feet and toes.

Shoes to suit the great British summer

11 Jun 2018 09:00:00

With our changeable climate, it’s helpful to have a variety of men’s wide shoes to ensure that you’re equipped for all summer weathers and occasions.

With our changeable climate, it’s helpful to have a variety of men’s wide shoes to ensure that you’re equipped for all summer weathers and occasions.

For warmer weather, an obvious choice is sandals as they allow the air to circulate around your feet. If you need support around your ankle, look for styles with a closed back. If you prefer to keep your toes covered, you could opt for a ‘shandal’ which is a cross between a shoe and a sandal. It gives the protection of a shoe but is still ventilated to keep feet cool.

Fabric shoes are another good option when the temperatures start to rise. They tend to be lighter in weight than leather shoes and are great if you have sensitive feet. Look for styles made from cotton, as they will help to keep you cool and comfy. They can also double up as a slipper if you prefer not to go barefoot when you’re indoors.

Although we don’t tend to associate boots with the summer, it’s worth investing in a pair if you enjoy walking or hiking. Look for styles that are waterproof so that you can wear them comfortably in all weathers.

Summer is wedding and christening season so it’s also handy to have a pair of smart shoes for formal occasions. Genuine leather shoes are a good choice as they allow your feet to breathe and sweat to escape. This promotes a healthy environment within your footwear ensuring feet stay fresh and dry.

Enjoy the benefits of leather

7 Jun 2018 10:00:00

As well as looking great, women’s wide shoes made from leather are durable, water-resistant, easy to clean and mould to your feet for maximum comfort.

As well as looking great, women’s wide shoes made from leather are durable, water-resistant, easy to clean and mould to your feet for maximum comfort. Genuine leather shoes and sandals also allow your feet to breathe and sweat to escape. This promotes a healthy environment within your footwear ensuring feet stay fresh and dry during the summer months. In turn, this helps prevent foot odour and athlete’s foot and keeps feet at a comfortable temperature.

To ensure our leather footwear is of the highest-quality, Cosyfeet uses materials from trusted suppliers that are thoroughly tested to industry standards. Our leathers are hand-finished, giving an enhanced appearance, and are supple to give softness and more comfort in wear.

Leathers

Good quality rawhide is the basis of our product and is a major factor in the quality of our leather. Our tannery partners use production processes with minimal environmental impact.

Cobbler

The final production processes of our leathers ensure that we achieve a high standard of durability, stability and good looks. Different finishing techniques are then used for the leathers specific application. For example, level of shine, waterproofness, wax content, pattern or texture (including suedes and nubucks).

Generally, our standard smooth leathers are finished with a light layer of pigment, which helps to achieve a high level of durability plus a clear aniline finish. This helps retain some of the natural appearance of the leather.

Once our shoes are completed, one of the last processes they go through in our workshops is the application of an individual hand-finish. The leather is creamed and polished providing a superior nourishment, appearance and longevity to the leather.
