Gardening jobs for August
August is generally one of the hottest months of the year, so watering this month is essential. Traditionally school holiday time, it's the perfect opportunity to enlist the help of grandchildren and perhaps spark an early interest in the benefits of gardening. There's also a wide variety of fruits and vegetables coming into season, offering a vibrant and delicious selection. Key fruits include strawberries, raspberries, peaches, nectarines and plums. For vegetables, offerings include tomatoes, sweetcorn, cucumbers, courgettes, aubergines and green beans. Additionally, apples and pears also begin to make their appearance, marking the transition towards autumn produce.
