Enjoy England's architecture and culture for free!
9 Sep 2018 09:00:00
Heritage Open Days (6th – 9th September and 13th – 16th September) celebrate England’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to places that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.
The idea behind the scheme is to give visitors the opportunity to explore interesting properties across the country that aren’t usually open, or normally charge an entrance fee. From castles to city halls, tunnels to tower tops, police cells to private homes, the variety of places and ways to discover them are endless.
Wells Cathedral is offering free tours on Saturday September 8th and Saturday September 15th
Heritage Open Days is organised by a huge network of people who share a passion for places, history and culture. Locally, over 2,500 organisations and some 40,000 volunteers organise thousands of site openings and events, jointly attracting over 1 million visitors. They make Heritage Open Days England’s biggest voluntary cultural event.
