If you have swollen feet and need wide fitting footwear, there are a number of things that you need to consider. Look for shoes that have a wider heel seat and increased depth to accommodate swelling.

An adjustable fastening is very useful as you can alter it if your feet become more or less swollen. The position of the fastening is also important. Make sure that it is placed so that it doesn’t cut into swollen insteps or ankles. Styles that have a soft, padded collar are also helpful as they offer support and won’t cut into swelling.

Shoes made from stretchy fabrics such as Elastane can be useful. They mould to the shape of your foot and won’t put pressure on swollen, bandaged or painful feet. It’s also important to think about how easy a shoe is to get on and off a swollen foot.Elastane
