As well as different lengths, shoes can come in different width fittings. But how do you tell the difference between standard and wide shoes? Finding the right width is essential to a proper fit. Shoes that fit well don’t just mean better comfort, they also ensure good foot health.
As a general guide, most women’s shoes are sold in a standard D fitting. Wide-fitting shoes start at an E. The addition of more letters means a wider shoe. The letter E standing alone is an extra-wide shoe size. The addition of two additional Es to the size indicates the shoe is two sizes wider than a single E size and so on.
The majority of women’s wide-fitting shoes that you’ll find on the high street are an E or EE. Occasionally you may find an EEE fitting. Cosyfeet is an EEEEE+ so it’s much wider and deeper than ordinary wide-fitting footwear.
