A Street-based footwear company has won an award from Somerset County Council for its long-term commitment to workers with Learning Disabilities. Cosyfeet, which specialises in footwear for people with swollen feet, has been awarded the ‘Employer of Choice’ Award from the County Council’s ‘Aspire Support for Work’ service.

Cosyfeet were given the award in recognition of their long-term work and commitment towards people with Learning Disabilities as well as their openness to try new things. The firm currently employs three people who are supported by the Aspire scheme. Emma works as a Fulfilment Operative in Cosyfeet’s warehouse and has been with the company since 2002. Gill and Colin began working in 2007 and are employed to help keep the premises clean and tidy.

Adam Gibbs, Fulfilment Manager at Cosyfeet, said: “As a business we have worked with Aspire for many years. I am very proud of the recognition the award gives us. It is a pleasure working with Colin, Emma and Gill and we look forward to progressing new ideas with Aspire to help the employees gain more skills. I hope news of this award will inspire other employers to play their part in breaking down the barriers which unfairly prevent many capable people from working.”
