May 11th is Somerset Day! This day marks Alfred the Great's call to arms and the gathering of 'all the people of Somerset' to march against the invading Viking army. We've asked a few of our company members for their favourite spots in this beautiful county...

Cheddar

Famous for its cheese, cider and Gorge, Cheddar is always a focal point for Somerset. Our Head of Marketing, Angus, doesn't live too far from Cheddar, "My family and I always enjoy a trip to Cheddar - especially a meander around the reservoir to take in the views of the Gorge, Crooks Peak and Glastonbury Tor. A trip to Somerset isn’t complete without a visit to Cheddar – the beautiful Gorge, the home of ‘Cheddar Man’ (at 10,000 years old, he’s the oldest complete skeleton discovered in Britain), and the birthplace of Cheddar cheese."

Our extra wide trainers for men and women are the ideal choice for a day spent exploring Cheddar - discover Sport Active™ today.

Avalon Marshes

Avalon MarshesAvalon Marshes

A wetland and nature reserve, this area has a rich cultural heritage and diverse wildlife, with hundreds of people visiting to witness the beautiful starling murmurations each year. Customer Service Agent, Helen, enjoys a regular visit, "The marshes centre often has workshops, as well as a craft shop and cafe. They also organise nature walks and bird-watching groups, or you can walk and explore on your own terms. It's a beautiful, peaceful place and so easy to reconnect with nature."

Our CosyTex™ range is designed to be 100% waterproof, windproof and breathable, ideal for marshy conditions.

Glastonbury Tor

Glastonbury Tor is an iconic, 521-foot hill in the heart of Somerset - not far from the Cosyfeet shop. Topped by the 15th-century St Michael's Tower, it is famous for its panoramic views, deep connections to Arthurian legend, the Isle of Avalon, and pagan mythology as a gateway to the underworld. Our Photographer & Video Manager, Will, captured this beautiful photograph, "There's nothing quite like climbing the Tor in my hometown of Glastonbury. The walk can be rather exhausting, but the views from the top are always worth it!"

Discover our CosyTex™ range, which features extra wide walking boots and shoes for men and women - perfect for walking on uneven terrains.

Wells

The Bishop's PalaceThe Bishop's Palace

Often described as 'England's smallest city', Wells takes its name from three holy wells dedicated to Saint Andrew that lie within the grounds of the Bishop's Palace and cathedral, which supply water to the marketplace. Our Brand Copywriter and Social Media Manager, Daisy, loves to visit the cathedral and gardens, "Visiting Wells, and the Bishop's Palace, is always a lovely outing as the gardens change so much season to season. There's also plenty to see and do in town, with lovely places to eat and shop."

With superb underfoot cushioning, our Cushion Active™ collection will keep feet comfortable on a garden stroll.

Glastonbury Abbey

Glastonbury AbbeyGlastonbury Abbey

Once a monastery, Glastonbury Abbey was founded in the 8th century and enlarged in the 10th. Christian legends have long-claimed that the abbey was founded by Joseph of Arimathea in the 1st century. Our Human Resources Manager, Laura, likes to make the most of this local spot, “Glastonbury Abbey is a firm favourite, and it’s only a five-minute drive from the Cosyfeet shop! Packed full of history and 36 acres of grounds ready to be explored. It's a great place to picnic on a warm day.”

Perfect for feet that swell during the day, our elastane collection for men and women is made with elasticated fabric, ideal for extra wide, swollen or misshapen feet.
