1 Million Minutes

Royal Voluntary Service, our charity of the year, is working with Good Morning Britain to address loneliness in older people in the run up to Christmas.

Pledge your time to help an older person

With over 1 million older people feeling isolated, Christmas can be a lonely time. That’s why Good Morning Britain has launched their 1 Million Minutes campaign to ask you to pledge your time to help an older person over the festive season. Royal Voluntary Service is supporting the campaign to encourage people to take up the volunteering challenge and make a difference.

Some of the ways you can help:

  • Take a trolley round a hospital ward and provide companionship and refreshments
  • Help out at a lunch club for older people
  • Volunteer at a hospital shop or café
  • Provide companionship to an isolated older person
