‘Get Going Together’ is Age UK’s health and wellbeing programme aimed at encouraging older people to take part in physical activity.
The charity wants to encourage older people to lead a more active life and enjoy the benefits that go with it including improved physical and mental health and the opportunity to socialise with others.
The activities on offer as part of ‘Get Going Together’ range from one-to-one support in the home to group classes. These include chair-based exercises, Zumba and Nordic walking. Participants are offered individual support to find out which activity best suits them.
At the moment, the programme is taking place in Cheshire, Coventry, Leicestershire, Oldham and South Tyneside. If you want to find out more, visit Age UK at www.ageuk.org.uk.
