On Friday 27th September we hosted our own team coffee and cake morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support at our Cosyfeet offices in Street, Somerset.
Macmillan Cancer Support are one of the largest British charities to provide specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.
Known as the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Macmillan Cancer Support have been hosting these coffee mornings since 1990 and since going national they have raised over £200 million for the charity.
You can sign up online and get your own Coffee Morning Kit sent to you. The kit includes bunting, a collection box, stickers and more to help you set up your coffee morning.
Manfy, who is one of our Customer Service Advisors here at Cosyfeet has been organising our coffee and cake mornings for a few years now. This is what the chance to raise money for this amazing charity means to her….
‘The reason we originally started the Macmillan coffee mornings was in memory of my mum who I lost to breast cancer almost 8 years ago on Christmas Eve. Since then, a handful of our team members have been affected by cancer and sadly one of our customer service ladies passed away in April 2016. It has affected us all in a big way. We all know someone who is battling and that’s just in our office. We love baking and making as much money as we can to help others that are affected by this horrible disease.’
14 Cosyfeet team members spent their free time making bakes for our coffee and cake morning. There were shortbread biscuits, mouth-watering triple chocolate cake, salted caramel slices, coffee cupcakes, carrot cake and more… a delicious start to a Friday!
We also offered a sweepstake to guess the amount of berries in the pie. It was a £2 donation to make your guess and the winner received £20. (There were 229 berries in the pie, in case you were wondering!)
It was a lovely morning, of getting together as a team, catching up, admiring the beautifully made bakes, enjoying the taste of them and donating money to a good cause.
We can proudly announce we raised £181.30 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
