Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week (15th- 21st May 2023) is a week-long campaign hosted by the charity, Mental Health Foundation.

The Mental Health Foundation is an organisation that focuses on protecting everyone's mental health. Their ongoing work includes advocating for preventative approaches to mental health problems. Each year, the charity hosts the Mental Health Awareness Week campaign, with a key aim to encourage everyone to get involved. The theme for 2023 is Anxiety.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, “Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems we can face. Lots of things can lead to feelings of anxiety, including exam pressures, relationships, starting a new job (or losing one), or other big life events. We can also get anxious when it comes to things to do with money and not being able to meet our basic needs, like heating our home or buying food.” It’s extremely important to manage our stress and anxiety levels and to not get overwhelmed. The charity recommends that "breathing exercises, physical activity and discussing feelings with trusted friends and family, or keeping a diary, can help make managing your anxiety easier".

Lavender can also be an effective and simple way of relieving anxiety, adding a few drops of Pure Lavender Oil to a warm bath, or to your pillow at night can help you to unwind and destress. Alternatively, our Lavender & Chamomile Slumber Mist has the added benefit of chamomile oil, an ingredient known for its relaxing and stress-relieving properties - in fact, you may have seen it in herbal teas that aim to promote peaceful sleep.

At Cosyfeet, we encourage everyone to look after their mental health. Our company is lucky enough to have a qualified Mental Health First Aider, Laura Fauceglia, who is the first port of call for those within the business who are struggling either in work or at home.

“As Cosyfeet’s Mental Health First Aider I feel a proud sense of responsibility to be able generate awareness on the topic of mental health within our work community. Mental health is something that affects each individual differently and being able to provide a good level of support is the first step in ensuring everyone feels advocated, listened to and encouraged.”

We are looking forward to be taking part in the  ‘Wear it Green’ campaign, on Thursday 18th May 2023, to help to raise money, and support this great cause.
