Grab your blankets and baskets and head for the great outdoors to celebrate National Picnic Week! Getting together with family and friends, enjoying the (hopefully) sunny weather, can be very beneficial for your well-being, add some delicious food and it's a win-win situation!
Food safety:
- Always keep food properly chilled, especially during the hotter months. Cold, perishable food should be kept in the fridge or a cool box until it needs to be served.
- Be sure to cook your food thoroughly – especially meats such as burgers and hot dogs. Once served, dishes shouldn’t sit outside for longer than two hours.
- Always wash your hands before cooking, serving food to other people and eating food. If you’re out on a picnic, try and use an antibacterial wipe if no sink is available.
