Gardening is an excellent way to get all-round exercise, and can be enjoyed by all the family. This fulfilling hobby can increase your strength, endurance, flexibility, and reduce the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and other medical conditions. When you dig, plant, weed or engage in tasks that require strength or stretching, all your major muscle groups get a good workout. It can improve your hand strength, pinch force and nimbleness, and build and tone your gluteal muscles. As little as 15 minutes a day in the sun can also build up your levels of vitamin D, which is important for maintaining healthy bones and teeth.

Picnics are a great way to enjoy some fresh air and explore some beautiful locations across the country. Get everyone involved in choosing some delicious treats to bring along, sandwiches and cakes are always fun to prepare with the grandchildren. There are so many picture-perfect places in the UK to enjoy a picnic - from the rolling countryside, to sunny seaside shores, so you can make a day of it together.
Always be sure to research where you’re going prior to travelling, to ensure picnics are allowed, and always take your rubbish away with you so areas of natural beauty remain unspoiled for others to enjoy.
